Ashok Poshamalla is the founder and director of Avtrix Software Solutions, a Taupō-based AI, automation and custom software company serving businesses across New Zealand. He started Avtrix in late 2021 after seven years keeping New Zealand’s fibre and broadband infrastructure running at Chorus and an earlier career in database engineering. He holds a Level 4 Certificate in Project Management (Te Wānanga o Aotearoa), is a Microsoft Certified Professional, and is completing the Johns Hopkins University Certificate Program in Agentic AI. Every Avtrix project is scoped and delivered under his direct involvement.
Background
Ashok’s route into AI was practical rather than academic. From 2016 to 2023 he worked as an IT technician on contract to Chorus NZ, diagnosing and resolving hardware and network faults across the national fibre and broadband network — work where a mistake is visible to thousands of people within minutes and where “it works on my machine” is not an answer. Before moving to New Zealand he worked as a database engineer in Hyderabad, designing schemas, access controls and automated backup and processing jobs for enterprise applications.
He founded Avtrix Software Solutions in Taupō in late 2021 (incorporated January 2022) to give New Zealand businesses a local, senior, fixed-price alternative to agency overheads on one side and offshore risk on the other. The company began with web, mobile and integration work and, from 2024, moved its focus to AI agents, document processing and business-process automation as those technologies became reliable enough to run real operations.
In 2026 he is completing The Johns Hopkins University Certificate Program in Agentic AI — multi-agent system architecture, retrieval-augmented generation, tool-using agents and AI governance — and applies it directly to client builds. He also holds a Level 7 Diploma in Network & System Engineering and a Level 4 Certificate in Project Management from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and has been a Microsoft Certified Professional since 2015.
